DR. RICHARD A. VLADOVIC HARBOR TEACHER PREP ACADEMY ATHLETICS

Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy is an early, middle college high school.  Our school’s program is intended for our students to earn one year of college credit while taking all their regular high school classes.  However, many of our students are highly motivated and earn their A.A. degree by the time they graduate high school.  While the Athletic Department at Dr. Richard A Vladovic Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy understands that not all high school athletes go on to play college sports we desire to coach every athlete at the highest level and along the way instill the CIFLACS' Six Pillars of Character that they can use throughout their lives, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.  Through combining academics and athletics it is our desire to produce skills, knowledge, a heart and an attitude of servant-leadership that student-athletes can take far beyond the race course, court, pitch, diamond, competion mat, fairway and our campus.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO PLAY SPORTS

To try out for one of our high school teams an athletic ELIGIBILITY PACKET needs to be completed.

All students must have INSURANCE to try out and play athletics in LAUSD.  If an athlete does not have insurance the district provides reduced cost insurance through K & K Insurance.

If you have transferred to VHTPA and would like to play a sport, there is additional TRANSFER STUDENT-ATHLETE paperwork to fill out.

"Our philosophy is simple - sports are fun and the best fun is winning,  We strive to win and do it with humility and grace.  If we happen to lose, we do it with our heads held high and respect for our opponents.  At all times we represent the team and our school.  We should be proud of both...[The] fundamental purpose of athletics, besides 'What will the score read?, are two questions 1) What kind of person will I be? 2) What kind of life will I lead?"
